Where Did I Find Participants?

I found my interview participants through various methods. For example, I circulated posters on social media, reached out to major Canadian museums, galleries, and cultural institutions, sent a group email to Chinese Canadian associations in various cities, and invited family friends (who I think as suitable) to participate. During this process, the Museum of Vancouver, Canadian Museum of History, the Vancouver Archives helped me significantly by reaching out to people within their social networks. The Museum of Vancouver helped me connect to some object donors and their family members, including those working with the Chinatown Storytelling Centre. Due to the constraints of the Covid-19 pandemic, it is not feasible to adopt an ethnographic approach by interviewing and interacting with participants in their homes and real-life environments. Therefore, I hosted every interview online through Zoom meetings and recorded them in video and audio forms upon permission.
